Kujuan Pryor’s Legs Too Much For Panthers As Burns Moves To The 3rd Round With A 52 to 35 Win Over Hibriten

On November 25th 2016 Burns left Jeff Storie Memorial Stadium with a 62 to 28 lose to Hibriten in the 2nd Round of the 3A State Playoffs. Only a handful of freshman we’re on that roster (according to maxpreps) one being tonight’s difference maker Kujuan Pryor as the #6 Burns Bulldogs traveled to meet the #3 Hibriten Panthers in the 2nd Round of the 2AA State Playoffs.

On Burns first drive running back Kujuan Pryor would get multiple carries and would finish the 5 and 1/2 drive on a 7 yard touchdown run (PAT good) Burns leads 7 to 0 with 6:30 left in the first quarter. That lead would on last 18 seconds though as on Hibriten’s first play from scrimmage quarterback Darren Perry would hit Marcus Jones on a 85 yard touchdown pass ( PAT good) we are tied at 7 with 6:12  left in the first quarter. Burns answers right back quicker this time. As Kujuan Pryor would get more carries and would finish the drive on a short 2 yard touchdown run (PAT good) Burns leads 14 to 7 with 3:08 left in the first quarter. Hibriten has an answer on 3rd down. Darren Perry looks to pass but desides to run the ball instead and finds an opening on a 59 yard qb keeper (PAT good) we are tied at 14 with 1:23 left in the first quarter. Hibriten would finally would force on a 3 and out but Hibriten would fumble the punt at their own 43 yard line and Burns would recover. Next play Kujuan Pryor would take it to the Panthers 18 yard line to end the quarter. 

Burns would find the endzone a few minutes later to open the 2nd quarter  as Cam’Ron Sweezy gets in the endzone on a QB keeper (PAT good) Burns leads 21 to 14 with 10:14 in the 2nd quarter. Hibriten’s turnover woes would continue as they would fumble on thier next series at thier own 43 yard line. Few minutes later Kujuan Pryor would bust for a 36 yard touchdown ( PAT good) Burns leads 28 to 14 with 8:30 left in the second quarter. On Burns next possession Kujuan Pryor would continue getting multiple carries. The drive would be finished by Cam’Ron Sweezy 4 yard QB keeper for a Bulldog touchdown (PAT good) Burns leads 35 to 14 with 1:36 left in the second quarter. Hibriten’s turnover woes would continue as Darren Perry would be picked off by Austin Setzer at the 43 yard line with 27 seconds left in the half. Burns would add on to thier lead as kicker Zach Benfield would hit a 29 yard field near the end of the half to make it 38 to 14 Burns at halftime.

During the 3rd quarter Burns would add to thier lead as Cam’Ron Sweezy would hit KJ Leslie on a 44 yard touchdown pass (PAT good) Burns leads 45 to 14 with 10:13 left in the 3rd quarter. Hibriten would finally end thier scoring drought as Darren Perry would hit Taylib Howell on a 20 yard touchdown pass (Ethan Watson 2 point conversion)  Burns leads 45 to 22 with 4:16 in the 3rd quarter. Kujuan Pryor would put the game out of reach on another touchdown run at the 9:27 mark (PAT good) Burns leads 52 to 28. Hibriten would add on 2 more touchdowns in the closing minutes as Burns takes this one 52 to 35.

With the win Burns improves to (11-2) and travels to #2 seed North Lincoln ( who defeated Pisgah 42 to 10) Next Friday. Hibriten ends thier season at (11-2).
