Northwest Cabarrus Throttles Young Forestview Squad

Northwest Cabarrus is coming off their best season going 13-1 with the lone loss being a third round playoff loss to Kings Mountain. The Trojans have many starters back from that team. Forestview is coming off a season that they have missed the playoffs for the first time since 2007 at 3-8 with only a handful of starters back. So you could see where this is going.

The Trojans wasted no time getting on the board. Junior running-back Tyrese Blake would score the first touchdown with a 53-yard run into the end zone (PAT good). After being forced to punt on their next drive, the special teams came up big forcing a Forestview fumble at the 10-yard line. Quarterback Nick Wilds-Lawing connected with Cam Saunders for a 10-yard touchdown pass (PAT good) to give the Trojans a 14-0 lead.

The Jaguars would cut the lead to 14-3 with a 39-yard field goal from Holt Cloninger. But that would be all the highlights from Forestview. The Trojans would score two more times before the half. Wilds-Lawing would connect with Karsen Perkins for a 16-yard touchdown pass (PAT no good). Then he would take it in himself from 30 yards out (PAT good) to give the Trojans a 27-3 half-time lead.

The third quarter would be a scoreless stalemate. The Trojans would put the nail in the coffin with another touchdown pass from Nick Wilds-Lawing to Perkins. That was from 64 yards out. Grayson Taylor’s extra point kick was good. A 35-yard interception return for a touchdown by LJ Currie would be the exclamation point to the game. Taylor was 5-for-6 on PAT kicks. That was three turnovers by Forestview last night. Nick Wilds-Lawing lead the Trojan Offense with 194 all purpose yards (149 passing, 45 rushing), 3 passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown. Tyrese Blake amassed 125 total yards (92 rushing and 33 receiving) and a rushing touchdown.
