Maiden blows past Lincolnton Earning a 2AA 1st Round Home Game

Going into tonights game Maiden had one goal win and your guaranteed to host at 2AA playoff game next week. Tonight at Wolf Hallow the Wolves of Lincolnton welcomed the the Blue Devils of Maiden looking to upset the Blue Devils on Senior Night.

After a Wolves 3 and out. The Blue Devils would get to work as Dylan Abernathy would fake the Wolves defense by throwing a WR pass to Carson Hansley where he would be brought down at the Lincolnton welcomed 21 yard line. Few plays later Ethan Rhodes would hit Dylan Abernathy to finish the drive on a 8 yard touchdown pass (PAT good) Maiden leads 7 to 0 with 8:17 in the 1st quarter. Dylan Abernathy would find the endzone again 5 minutes later. As he would pick off Lincolnton’s E.J. Mannjarres and return it 42 yards( PAT blocked ) Maiden leads 13 to 0 with 3:14 left in the 1st quarter. Maiden would strike again as a Ethan Rhodes to Chris Morgan pass would lead to a big gain. Few plays later Amarion Craig would run it in on a 19 yard touchdown run (two point conversation good) Maiden leads 21 to 0 after the first quarter.

The Wolves would finally get going near the end of the the first quarter as Dejarris Gash would run the kickoff to the Maiden 15 but the drive would stall and Lincolnton would settle for a long Diego Ramiro field goal to cut the lead to 21 to 3 Maiden with 11:19 left in the 2nd quarter. Maiden would extend it’s lead five minutes later as Ethan Rhodes would hit Chris Morgan on a 21 yard screen touchdown pass ( PAT good) to make it 28 to 3 Blue Devils with 7:38 left in the 2nd quarter. Not much action would happen the rest of the first half except a interception by Lincolnton’s Amontre Finger at the Maiden 5.

During the opening of second half Maiden would extend its lead as Ethan Rhodes would hit Dylan Abernathy for a 35 yard touchdown (PAT good) Maiden leads 35 to 3. Lincolnton would answer though as Dejarris Gash would run the kickoff back into Maiden territory. After a big pass play from E.J. Mannjarres to his receiver setting up first and goal. Gash would run it in on a one yard touchdown (PAT good) 35 to 10 Maiden with 9:32 left in the 3rd quarter. Maiden would put the game out of reach near the end of the third quarter as Amarion Craig would score on a 2 yard touchdown run (PAT Good) with 2:51 left in the 3rd quarter. Two more scores would happen in the fourth quarter to put your final Maiden 49 Lincolnton 16.

With the loss Lincolnton ends thier season at (3-8) (1-6) in the South Fork 2A. With the win Maiden improves to (8-3) overall (5-2) in the South Fork 2A. Finishing second place and will host a 2AA first round home game next Friday at Thomas E. Brown Stadium.
