Kujuan Pryor’s Legs Leads Burns in Easy Win over Newton-Conover

Tonight the Burns Bulldogs traveled to Newton, NC for the first time since 2002 (according to gobiggreen.net played at Fred T Foard in a conference game). Newton-Conover was hoping to bounce back from last week’s lose to Hendersonville and played their first game at home since August 23 in week one.

As the game got started Newton-Conover would go 3 and out. After a punt Burns would convert on a 4th down play by Kujuan Pryor. A big screen pass run by Carlton Hopper would lead to a 1 yard touchdown run by him a few plays later (PAT good) Burns leads 7 to 0 with 5:03 in the first quarter. Newton-Conover would come right back as a Justice Craig would hit Brandon Johnson on a huge pass play. But on 4th down kicker Addison Hayes kick would be blocked with 2:03 remaining in the 1st quarter. Kujuan Pryor would then break free on a big run.take the ball to the Newton-Conover 32. The drive would be finished with a Nick Jackson touchdown run of 5 yards ( PAT blocked) Burns leads 13 to 0 with 1:17 left and would stay that way at the end of the 1st quarter.

Newton-Conover would then go 3 and out. Burns looked to be driving but Camron Sweezy would be picked of at Newton-Conover 2 yard line by Brandon Johnson with 7:41 in the 2nd quarter. The bad field possession would hurt the Red Devils though as Justice Craig would be sacked for a safety by Dorian Starnes 2 plays later Burns now leads 15 to 0 with 6:55 left in the 2nd quarter. Burns would extend their lead as Kujuan Pryor would score on a 19 yard run ( PAT good) Burns leads 22 to 0 at halftime.

After halftime Newton-Conover would cut into the lead as Camron Sweezy would be picked off by Christian Burgins he would return it into Bulldogs territory. This would lead to a 4th down 6 yard touchdown pass from Justice Craig to Zane Redmond (PAT blocked) Burns leads 22 to 6 with 9:58 left in the 3rd quarter. Next possession Burns would fumble the ball and Allan Shade would fall on it. This would lead to a Allen Willfong 7 yard touchdown run (PAT good) Burns now leads 22 to 12 with 8:14 left in the 3rd quarter. That’s the close the Red Devils would come however as the rest of the game it would be all Burns. As Kujuan Pryor would break free from defenders and take it 60 yards for a Bulldogs touchdown on the next possession (PAT good) Burns leads 29 to 12 with 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Burns would add another touchdown run on their next possession with a 5 yard touchdown run by Camron Sweezy with 6:26 left in the 3rd quarter. ( PAT good) Burns leads 36 to 12. 2 minutes later Kujuan Pryor would break free again to blow it open on 58 yard touchdown run. ( PAT good) Burns leads 42 to 12 with 4:26 left in the 3rd quarter. The game would stay that way until the game’s final score with 5:48 in the 4th quarter a Carmron Sweezy 9 yard touchdown run (PAT good) Burns wins 49 to 12.

With the win Burns improves to 3-1 overall and host South Point next week (who defeated Cramer 35 to 0 Friday). Newton-Conover falls to 2-2 and host Lincolnton ( who was open Friday)
