Dawkins Surpasses 1,000 Yards Rushing As Forestview Pulls Away From Stuart Cramer

The Jaguars were looking to solidify their post-season spot as they hosted Stuart Cramer for their home finale. The Jaguars closed the night with a 41-21 win over the visiting Storm. But that is not all that happened. Forestview running-back, Jamarion Dawkins, eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing for the year. His first highlight, however, would be on defense when he would intercept a pass by Stuart Cramer quarterback, Justin Rocquemore. That drive would result in a two-yard touchdown run by Jaylen Mims to put Forestview on top 7-0 (PAT good).

The Storm would storm right back with a touchdown of their own. Rocquemore connected with Damien Bentley for a ten-yard touchdown pass to tie the game up (PAT good). The Jaguars would retake the lead with a four-yard touchdown run by Dawkins (PAT good). A Storm fumble would put Forestview back in business. Dawkins would score again with a 77-yard touchdown run to extend the Jaguars’ lead to 20-7 (PAT missed). That would be the half-time score.

The Jaguars would receive the second half kickoff but would be stopped on 4th-and-1 in their own territory. Stuart Cramer would take advantage. Under pressure in a fourth down situation, Rocquemore connected with Tyreese Morris and he would take it 26 yards for a Storm touchdown (PAT good). But that would be as close as the Storm would get.

The Jaguars would go back up by 13 at the end of the third quarter with a one-yard touchdown run by Camuri Reid (PAT good). Reid would score another touchdown in the fourth quarter from five yards out to give the Jaguars a 20-point lead (PAT good). The Storm cut it to 13 points with a Tyreese Morris ten-yard touchdown run (PAT good).

Stuart Cramer was unable to keep Forestview out of the end zone however. Needing 19 more yards to amass 1,000 yards rushing for the year, Jamarion Dawkins did much more than that on this next play. He scored another touchdown with a 68-yard touchdown run (PAT good). That put him at 1,048 total rushing yards for the year. The Storm tried to get one last drive going but Rocquemore was intercepted by Quan Duncan to seal the deal.

Dawkins led Forestview’s offense with 296 total yards (232 yards rushing and 64 yards receiving) and three rushing touchdowns. Camuri Reid added 162 total yards (130 yards rushing and 32 yards receiving) and two rushing touchdowns. The Jaguars amassed 540 total yards of offense. Justin Rocquemore led the Storm offense with 174 total yards (114 yards passing and 60 rushing) and a passing touchdown. Morris amassed 95 total yards (69 rushing and 26 receiving) and two touchdowns (one receiving and one rushing). The Storm amassed 253 yards total offense. Gavin Hoyle was 5-for-6 on his extra point kicks for the Jaguars. He was playing in place of Holt Cloninger who was injured at Kings Mountain last week. Jackson Mammano was 3-for-3 on his extra point kicks.

“It’s good to get a win. Our kids played hard. They deserved it and I’m happy for them. It was a total team win. We’ll wake up tomorrow and see who we play (in the playoffs). It’s great to be back in it after a year out of them.” Said Forestview head coach Chris Medlin “Give Stuart Cramer and their staff a lot of credit. They played well.”

“Good player, great young man. It couldn’t happen to a better young man.” Medlin said of Dawkins topping 1,000 yards rushing for the year.

“We knew that if we won tonight that there would be some chance we could get in the playoffs. Our guys were fighting for that. Our guys played hard.” said Stuart Cramer head coach Ben McMillan “Turnovers hurt us. We had poor tackling at times. They got some good running-backs. They did pretty good tonight. We just couldn’t stop them and we made a few too many mistakes. We had flashes of times we did really well. We just couldn’t quite put it all together. That’s kind of been the story of our season.”

“Mid part of our season when we played the toughest teams on our schedule, we had a bunch of injuries.” McMillan said of the amount of injuries “That didn’t help us out at all. So we had to have some young guys play and step up. We played a couple of freshmen out there tonight. So it’s definitely hurt us this season.”

Stuart Cramer ends their season at 3-8 (1-5). Forestview will head into the playoffs with a 6-5 (3-3) record.
