Lumberton probably plays in the toughest conference outside of Mecklenburg County.  The Sandhills (formerly the Southeastern) Conference includes Richmond County, Pinecrest, Scotland, Jack Britt, and Seventy-First.  This year, Hoke County is on the rise.  

I will state that Lumberton does not play many seniors.  There are many Sophomores and Juniors that are learning the ropes during this season.  Their JV team has over 35 Freshman playing ball, so if these kids can stick with the program and develop, the Pirates' fortune can change.
