Oak Grove is in the Central Carolina 2A Conference. A right new school and has a 3-0 record. With wins over Trinity 54-0, Jordan Matthews 55-0 and also a big win over N. Davidson 30-24. I know this is the new school that was built and took some of the N. Davidson students which at one time N Davidson was 4A and now is 2A. I guess Oak Grove has come along way fast. I think the Oak Grove- Salsibury game on October 11 could be a triller. Interesting to see how this team does as time goes. Will they be the new sheriff in this county.

Oak Grove's HC, Mark Holcomb, was North Davidson's head coach for 15 years.  This is Oak Grove's first year with seniors on the roster too, so the transition from Freshman-Sophomores only (2017-2018) to a full four year high school (2019-2020 school year) has been completed.

I thought one of the biggest "missed stories" from the 2018 season was that Oak Grove had a 5-6 record with no seniors on its roster.  Going into this season, I thought North Davidson would be the conference favorite with Ledford right behind.  I had Oak Grove pegged as the 3rd best team in the Central Carolina Conference.

I will be curious if Oak Grove can be a contender for the 2AA state championship.  I have them listed as being a threat in the 2AA East.  However, I think the 2AA power lies in the West (Shelby, Burns, and Hibriten).

Thanks Jim for your knowledge for the HS football. It will be interesting to see how Oak Grove does this year and the years to come.

Oak Grove with a big win over Lexington 52-8 keeping them undefeated. Also Salisbury had a win over West Davidson 14-11 staying undefeated as well. Keeping an on these two teams as it could shape up as being a good one. But will have to wait and see.

If I had to guess, Salisbury will probably finish around 4th in conference.  The Yellow Jackets had a decent win against a decent 1A North Rowan team (9-7) and a good win against a decent 2A Thomasville team (28-0).  Defeating Carson and West Davidson was expected.

The way I see the Central Carolina Conference right now:

1-3:  Oak Grove, North Davidson, Ledford.  I think these teams are the cream of the crop.

4--Salisbury.  The Yellow Jackets are the "best of the rest".

5.  Thomasville

6.  Central Davidson

7.  West Davidson

8.  South Rowan

9.  Lexington

10.  East Davidson

Both Thomasville and Central Davidson will be near the bubble for making the playoffs.

Oak Grove with another win over Central Davidson 49-7. This win keeps them undefeated. I believe Salsibury won over Lexington 28-7 which keeps them undefeated. These two teams will meet up in a couple weeks. A game to keep an eye on.

So Oak Grove is having a nice year. Actually, Salisbury is too!

I struggle with Lexington and Albemarle playing so poorly...
