Bi-Weekly Rankings

Rank
1 Olympic Charlotte 4A Freeman and Smith continue to roll, remaining undefeated.  Olympic got themselves a nice win over Wheeler (GA) at the Marriot Invitational.  Olympic is still the 4A favorite to win the state title. 1
2 Garner Magnet Garner 4A Garner is really hitting its stride, with 10 straight wins after a couple disappointing losses in the middle of the season.  Garner is no joke, as two out of state powers found out at the HS Invitational in Raleigh; Garner upset both St Raymonds of NY (notorious super power) and Strake Jesuit (read previous comment).  Garner may be Olympics stiffest competition for the 4A State title. 4
3 Concord  Concord 3A Concord Remains undefeated and was jumped by Magnet in the rankings due to the Spiders easy schedule and not being tested this season (other than a win against previous # 20 team Mount Tabor).  Concord has some tough competition to win the 3A state title. 3
4 Chapel Hill Chapel Hill 3A Chapel Hill continues to win easy and currently stands 20-0.  This team is playing great ball!  Will it continue into the playoffs?  Denzel Ingram was recently selected as player of the week on Max Preps after several 20 plus point performances; he is really the driving force behind this team. 5
5 West Craven Vanceboro 3A Behind the play of 6'5" wing Josh Cuthbertson (avg nearly 27pts, 11 boards, 4 assts, 4 steals a night), West Craven is undefeated and can no longer be ignored in the rankings.  They are also responsible for Pine Forest's only loss.  Along with Cuthbertson who reached the 1000 point career mark this year, The Eagles also have 6'5" Sr F Aaron Tate (Morehead State) and Jr PG Demetres Abrams who are members of the 1000 point club.  Concord and West Craven showdown decide the 3A State Title? NR
6 New Hanover Wilimington 4A New Hanover was handed their second loss of the season against number my # 8 team, Pine Forest and has dropped a couple spots in the rankings.  Since the loss, they have rattled off 2 dominating performances over Rose and Hoggard. 2
7 Winston-Salem Prep Winston-Salem 1A Winston Salem Prep has remained put and odds on favorite to win the 1A state title.  Prep has rattled off 8 straight wins after they suffered a disappointing loss (only loss on the season) mid-season to West Stokes. 7
8 Pine Forest Fayetteville 4A A big win over New Hanover powers Pine Forest into the States top 20.  Led by their 2 small guards Alex Bradley (5'7") and Isaac Lyerly (5'10") Pine Forest has only 1 loss on the year (West Craven). NR
9 West Charlotte Charlotte 4A After a loss to Lake Norman, West Charlotte has fallen a couple spots.  They have rebounded and won three straight since the loss; including a dominating performance over Vance and a nice win against # 14 North Meck. 6
10 Croatan Newport 2A At 17-0 Croatan is continuing their success and a win against previous # 16, Clinton (bumping them from the rankings bodes well for this team. 12
11 Kinston Kinston 2A Kinston recently getting upset by North Pitt has dropped them in the rankings, but they are still a serious 2A threat. 9
12 Page Greensboro 4A Page moves up from 19th on the list as they continue to win; currently on a 8 game winning streak. 19
13 Hoke County Raeford 4A Behind junior swing man Tarique Thompson, Hoke County has only been beaten once.  They have currently rattled off 5 wins in a row, including a nice away victory against Jack Britt. NR
14 North Mecklenburg Charlotte 4A North Meck has only stumbled 3 times this season and twice against West Charlotte; which creates the question, can North Meck win the big game? 10
15 East Rutherford Forest City 2A East Ruth still only has 2 losses this year and the play of Soph Devonte Boykins has been phenomenal, recently recording a triple double. 17
16 Cuthbertson Waxhaw 2A Cuthbertson and Shelton Mitchell continue to play well (1 loss on the year), but need to prove themselves against high level competition to make a bigger splash in these rankings.  18
17 Apex Apex 4A Apex is enjoying a strong year (2 losses), in large part to sophomore PG TJ Evans and his 20 plus a night.  The cougars haven't loss since mid December and are enjoying a 12 game winning streak. NR
18  North Forsyth Winston-Salem 3A Kedrick Flomo (6'1" sophomore PG) has paced the Vikings to a 17-2 record.  Recently just beating Asheboro and Mount Tabor (knocking MT out of the top 20). NR
19 Harding Charlotte 3A Harding fell in the rankings, not due to their recent play but because of other teams on this list.  Harding has had 2 disappointing losses to East Gaston and Charlotte Catholic; we will see how they fare against the rest of their schedule (games against Catholic, Olympic, and Berry). 14
20 Davie County Mocksville 4A Despite Davie's considerable talent and great team athleticism; they are not playing as well as one may think.  Davie has been playing .500 basketball over their last 8 games and is SERIOUS danger of dropping out of the top 20. 8

Mount Tabor Winston-Salem 4A Back to back losses against West and North Forsyth. 20
Clinton Clinton 2A Loss against Croatan and the play of other teams in the state bump Clinton from top 20. 16
Berry Charlotte 3A With only a couple quality wins and losing against each of their division rivals (Catholic, Olympic, and Harding) have bumped Berry from the top 20.  They get all 3 again and can still make a splash. 15
Mooresville Mooresville 4A After losing 3 of their last four they have fallen out of the top 20 and are in danger of becoming a .500 team. 13
Clayton Clayton4A   Back to back losses to Garner Magnet and a bad loss against Knightsdale have dropped Clayton considerably.  This team can still make a splash though 11
South Mecklenburg Charlotte 4A South Meck's length upfront has been driving them all season.  6'9" Junior PF Malcolm Matthews is one of the better shot blocker/rebounders in the Queen City. NR
Charlotte Catholic Charlotte 3A Catholic is not going to wow you with tremendous talent, however they play well as a team and play hard.  6'5" shooter Robert Champion has been scoring at a high rate. NR
Webb Oxford 3A Webb who only had 3 losses on the season just added top 10 Junior and UNC bound Isaiah Hicks.  Hicks who sat out the first semester due to transfer complications is back and the 6'8" star makes Webb a serious threat!  Webb may shoot up the rankings soon.
