Last week guesses were pretty close with the exception of the Hunter Huss/King Mountain game that I missed completely. Let’s see how close we’ll be this week.
Ashbrook at Crest
After a loss to Burns last week, the Green Wave will be on the road again to take on another South Mountain Conference team and a familiar foe in the Crest Chargers. In the past this has always been a tough contest for both teams because conference standings were a factor. Even though these two teams are now in different conferences you can still expect a battle. I look for a close game that either team could win. I’ll give the edge to the home team. Chargers by 7 or less.
Kings Mountain at East Gaston
The Warriors will be at home again this Friday to face former conference foe Kings Mountain. The Warriors played East Lincoln tough last week but came up a little short and this may be a good indicator of how well they may compete in Big South Conference. I look for another close contest but I’m not sure the Warriors have the defense to rise to the occasion to pull off a win.
Kings Mountain by 7.
Forestview at Clover, SC
The Jaguars will travel to Clover to face another team from S.C. this week, the Blue Eagles. Forestview proved they could score points last week but the defense gave up one more point than the offense mustered. Clover is not on the same level as Nations Ford and I look for the Jags to roll this week. Forestview by 21.
Burns at Hunter Huss
The Huskies opens up their home schedule against former conference foe Burns. The Bulldogs are coming off of a win against Huss’ cross-city rival Ashbrook and the Huskies may be without the services of Kerrion Moore this week. Either way, Burns will be too much for the Huskies.
Burns by 17.
Lake Norman Charter at High Point Christian
The Lake Norman Charter Knights will take to the road this week to face High Point Christian. The Knights eked out a close win last week but this week they face a team that is supposedly much weaker. LNC by 14.
East Rutherford at North Gaston
The Wildcats took it to the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets for their first opening win in seven years. However, they are stepping up in competition this week against the Cavaliers. This will be a closer contest than last week but I’ll give the home standing Wildcats the edge. NG by 3.
South Point at Lincolnton
The Red Raiders will be on the road again this week as they travel to Lincolnton to take on the Wolves. South Point easily handled the Crest Chargers while Lincolnton edged out North Lincoln last week but the Wolves face a much tougher opponent in the South Point Red Raiders. The Wolves can’t match the Red Raiders on offense and I see a very productive night for the Redbone.
