In what looked like it was going to be a blow out victory for West Charlotte in the first half, Vance came storming back to make this an exciting game. West Charlotte does look improved from the begining of the season, most notably Kennedy Meeks and Mark Blackmon putting the ball in the bucket. West Charlotte dominated early, but then seemed to get out of rhythem and let Vance get back into the game. After some huge shots from sophmore Torin Dorn.. it was tie game late, before West Charlotte closed it out.
West Charlotte must keep Meeks involved on offense, especially against smaller teams. He has a soft touch around the rim and he is too much for smaller opponets to deal with.
Mark Blackmon deserves some DII looks, he showed he can dribble drive and continues to stroke it from deep. He has a great release and although he is a bit on the small side, he has very long arms.
Vance has an abundance of talented young guards. Caleb Davis continues to be under-appreciate in Clt and is one of the better PG's in the city. Sophmore's Torin Dorn and Derrick Brewer both have some upside and are not afraid to put up shots and score the basketball... Finally Freshman Malik Massey who can run the point has some nice upside and plays heavy minutes.
West Charlotte can still make a run in the state playoffs and I personally think they will... But they can go home early if they relax too much.
