CV Spring Visit: Butler Bulldogs

Earlier this week we visited the Butler Bulldogs, a perennial playoff team here in the state of North Carolina. Last year was not a typical Bulldogs type of season, losing in the 1st round of the State Playoffs, and they certainly have appeared to use that as motivation in the offseason. At first glance Butler looks much bigger from work in the weight room, and a lot more confident on both sides of the ball.

Offensively the Bulldogs have a number of threats on the ground and in the air. Head Coach Brian Hales was particulalrly proud of his offensive line, stating that several starters were returning and that gives him a good bit of comfort. A number of talented skill players return, most notably WR Keyon Lesane, who stated that he has several ACC schools recruiting him right now.

Defensively Butler will have a new Defensive Coordinator, and Hales says that they plan to be an attacking type of defense to make plays and force turnovers. It all starts up front, and the Bulldogs have twin brothers Raevon and Traevon Freeman at DE and they plan on creating a lot of havoc for quarterbacks this upcoming season as a dynamic duo.
