Friday May 4th we were invited to check out the Hickory Ridge 'Night Of Champions' led by new Head Coach Sam Greiner, who led the Harding Rams to the 4A State Championship last season. The event started with the players running 40s under the supervision of several Division 1 programs including the University of Tennessee and Charlotte.
The team then transitioned to some 7 on 7 work for the skill players, while the linemen engaged in some fun, playing some recreational football on the other side of the field. This team has some legit talent, led by CB Garrett Williams, who Greiner mentioned as a "definite Power 5 recruit" who ran a 4.47 40 yard dash.
The Ragin Bulls finished up with some fun at the end of the night, holding a Dizzy Bat competition where the players had to spin around 7 times and run in a relay race setup and the losing team had to do up downs. The defense proved to be the victor on this night, where the offense had to do 21 up downs. At the end, the team came and saluted the fans that came, which honestly was a good turnout - more than some CMS Varsity Friday Night crowds in all honesty.
Check out the exclusive interview we had with Hickory Ridge Head Coach Sam Greiner below. As always, we want to thank him, Coach Brandon Sneed, and the Hickory Ridge staff, players, and administration for their hospitality. Also the boosters for the great service and barbecue dinner which was top notch!
