SOUTH IREDELL VIKINGS GET THIER 1ST EVER PLAYOFF WIN OVER THE WONDERS OF AL BROWN

Tonight the South Iredell Vikings hosted the Wonders of AL Brown at Viking Valley in the 2nd Round of 3AA West 2nd Round Playoffs. South Iredell was looking for their 1st win vs AL Brown as they were 0-3 all-time all those games were playoff matchups at AL Brown this time the game would be at South Iredell . The Wonders and Vikings haven't met since 1999. The Vikings were lead by Brady Pope has thrown for almost 10,000 yds in his career and is the South Iredell all-time leading passer. Tonight he would go over that and do so much more. As the game started South Iredell would recover a onsides kick. The Vikings would drive but would have to settle for a Miss Julia Knapp 36 yd field goal to put the Vikings up 3 to 0 with 8:05 left in the 1st quarter. After both teams went 3 and and out A wonder would muffle the punt and South Iredell would recover but they would have to settle for a Miss Julia Knapp field again of 32 yards to put the Vikings up 6 to 0 with 6:27 left in the 1st quarter. The Wonders finally would get their offense on the field as a pass interference penalty would result in great AL Brown field positioning. That's when a few plays later AL Brown's Terry Anderson would run it in to put the Wonders up 7 to 6 with 4:32. The Vikings would only trail for the whole game however as a nice drive would be finished off by a 11 yard pass from Brady Pope to Ty Everhart to put the score at 13 to 7 South Iredell at the end of the 1st quarter. As the 2nd quarter started the Vikings would start to pull away as Brady Pope found Dydrion Leech twiced on passes of 3 and 36 yds to put the Vikings up 27 to 7 with 2:09 left after a wonder 3 and out. The Vikings would get their own version of hot potato as the Wonders would recover setting up great field positioning. On 3rd and goal a al brown fumble was recovered by the Wonders Jalen Nixon would recover it and take it in to cut the lead to 27 to 14 at the half. As the 3rd quarter started South Iredells Brady Pope to Dydrion Leech would work again as Leech caught his 3rd TD from Pope on 32 yard pass to put the Vikings up 34 to 14 with a little over 10 mins later. 6 minutes later AL Brown would find pass of their own as Jordan Medley would hit Keon McGee to cut the Vikings lead to 34 to 21 but that would the closest the Wonders would get. After a 4th down stoppage South Iredell would ice the game and scoring as Brady Pope found Ty Everhart put the score 41 to 21 Vikings near the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter no team would find the endzone as on a key 3rd and 1 play Jordan Medley would be sack ending all hope for the Wonders as the Vikings would win 41 to 21. With the lose the Wonders of AL Brown finish their 2017 campaign 10-3. The Vikings improve to 11-2 as they will travelling in their 3AA West semifinal matchup to #2 seeded 12-1 A.C. Reynolds in Asheville. As they were 21 to 7 winners over SW Guilford Friday night.
