Fred T Foard Stuns Maiden In a Shutout Wins 1st Playoff Game Since 1982

Tonight at Thomas E Brown Stadium. Maiden entered 11-0 and were heavy favorites against the Fred T Foard Tigers that entered 8-3. It was rematch of the 1st regular season game these which Maiden won 37 to 14 at Tiger Stadium. Tonight's game would not go the same way. After Fred T Foard received the opening kickoff. On 2nd down Tigers QB Jack Colosemo would hit WR Daniel Lackey as he would take it all the way to the blue devils 8 yard line. 3 plays later Tigers HB Tate Beaver would take it in and get the 2 point conversion to put Foard up 8 to 0. Maiden would answer as they forced the ball down field. Using backup Lee Turner in for the injured Kentrell Williams who was nursing a sprained ACL. As they drove it to the tigers 1 yd line. The tiger defense would hold including a big 3rd down stop. Forcing a field goal attempt. It would be blocked leaving the score at Fred T Foard 8 to 0 over Maiden. This would be the story for the rest of the 1st half. As Maiden would get into the redone twiced more but was unable to come up with any points. Foard would not fare any better. Even a fumble by Keygan Mayfield that gave Foard all the momentum that would set up 1st and goal would be erased by a Keygan Mayfield interception. To leave the score at 8 to 0 tigers at halftime. During the 3rd quarter and most of the 4th quarter teams would trade punts. Maiden would then put their best drive together after a Keygan Mayfield pass to set up Maiden 1st and 10 past midfield with 6 minutes to play. Unfortunately the tigers defense held and would force a punt as Keygan Mayfield was unable to connect with his WRs. The Tigers offense would then get to work as they took it down field forcing Maiden to burn all their timeouts. Tate Beaver would then run it in on a short touchdown and 2 point conversion would make it 16 to 0 Tigers with 40 seconds left. Maiden would have one last chance but an interception would end Maidens season. With the win Fred T Foard improves to 9-3 on the season. This was also Fred T Foards first playoff win and shutout since 1982. They will travel to Mount Pleasant next week in the 2nd round who were 35 to 0 winners over East Lincoln in the battle of the Tigers. Maiden ends their season at 11-1.
