Maiden Ruins Senior Night for the Wolves for the 2nd Straight Season and Win Outright South Fork 2A in Thrilling Fashion

Tonight was a unusual warm November night at Wolf Hollow. As the 5-5 Lincolnton Wolves hosted the undefeated Blue Devils of Maiden. Lincolnton was playing for a better seed as they were already eliminated from the conference race. But more importantly Lincolnton was looking to revenge last seasons ruining of senior night and undefeated season by the same blue devils. Oddly enough 364 days later it was Maiden with the undefeated regular season and Lincolnton wanted to spoil that on Senior Night. After a and 3 and out by the Wolves a botch punt would set Maiden with great field position. Unfortunatly Maidens HB Kentrell Williams was injured and he would not return. (His status for next weeks playoff game remains unknown ). The blue devils offense would then sputter as the wolves. defense forced a 4th down stop. Then the Wolves Tyshaun Harris would take the ball 64 yds to the house to put Lincolnton up 7 to 0. It would stay that way until the 6:07 mark in the 2nd quarter as the wolves moved the ball down to the red zone. That's when Lincolnton QB Tyreke Hollis found Brian Sedano. To put the wolves up 14 to 0. After a Maiden 3 and out Maidens Calab McDaniel would punt the ball to the wolves 2. That's when a possible wake up call happened for the blue devils after the 2nd down play the blue devils forced a Wolves fumble as they get ball with only a minute remaining at the Lincolnton 7. A few plays later Keygan Mayfield found Calab McDaniel to put the score 14 to 7 at halftime. That score would stick until the 4th quarter. That's when Maiden would march downfield as Keygan Mayfield to Montrell Stintson finished the drive on a short TD to Tie the game at 14. After a some great stops by both teams. We find ourselves at the 6 min mark. That's when Keygan Mayfield took a QB keeper 35 yds to put Maiden in front 21 to 14. On the kickoff that's when Tyshaun Harris would take it 75 yds to tie it at 21. After a fumble on the next possession . Lincolnton would drive to midfield. That's when on 3rd and 1 Maidens Blake Vance would force a 4 yd loss forcing a Lincolnton punt. That's when on 2nd down Maiden caught Lincolnton napping as Keygan Mayfield would hit a Wide open Montrell Stinson to put Maiden up 28 to 21. Wolves did have one last chance by it was intercepted by Maiden as time expired. As Maiden spoils Lincolntons Senior Night for the 2nd year in a row 28 to 21. With the win Maiden finishes the 2017 regular season 11-0 and win the South Fork 2A Conference outright and will host a 2AA west playoff game next week at Thomas E Brown Stadium. Lincolnton falls to 5-6 as they finish the regular season 4th in the South Fork 2A and will travel in a 2A west playoff game
