Maidens Defense To Much For The Knights As They Ruin North Lincoln's Homecoming

Tonight Maiden would travel to Pumkin Center looking to ruin it's 2nd Lincoln County homecoming. As they faced the Knights of North Lincoln who's record stood at 2-5 but were scoring at least 26 points a game. Would they finally pull off a huge win against an undefeated opponent?( only lost to 1A Bessemer City by 5 and 3A Alexander Central by 4). Things got off to usual start for the Knights as they marched and ate up a over 5 minute drive into Blue Devil territory. Unfortunately the Blue Devils would force a punt and a welcome gift from North Lincoln as the punt would roll only 6 yards. When Maiden took over on their first possession QB Keygan Mayfield would find WR Calab McDaniel for a 44 yd TD to put Maiden up 7 to 0 in the only score of the quarter. During the 2nd quarter North Lincoln QB Reed McRorie would find his receivers but Maidens secondary would swarm and force little to no gain. Maiden would take advantage as they put a long drive together finish by Keygan Mayfield to put Maiden up 14 to 0. During the next possession Maidens defense was rewarded as they picked otf QB Reed McRorie but unfortunately Maidens first field goal of the season was no good as they settled for a 14 to 0 halftime lead. During halftime Miss McCauley Palmer was named North Lincoln 2017 Homecoming Queen. After halftime maiden would drive down the field and and the score was finished by Keygan Mayfield his 2nd td. To put Maiden up 21 to 0. Maidens defense would then get on the scoring after a sack in the end zone would result in a safety to put Maiden up 23 to 0. After a failed scoring attempt due to the penalties the score would remain 23 to 0 after 3 qtrs. North Lincoln's QB Reed McRorie after being sacked 4 times and picked off once finally put the Knights on the board as he would find Jacob Hermon. To make the score 23 to 6 with 6 min remaining. Maiden would make sure there would be no comeback as the 2 point conversion failed. Maiden would run clock and finish the scoring as Lee Turner found the end zone to to put the final at 30 to 6. With the win Maiden now 8-0 4-0 will host East Lincoln 5-3 4-0 in a battle of teams tied for first with Newton-Conover in the South Fork 2A. North Lincoln falls to 2-6 1-3 travels to Newton-Conover 7-1 4-0. This was also Maidens 9th straight win over the Knights who have yet to lose to North Lincoln.
