Maiden High School
Tonight Maiden welcomed the Indians of St Stephens High School who was looking to leave "The Biggest Little Football Town in the World" with a win something they haven't done on the field since 2009( thier 2011 win was a forfeit for an ineligible player). Maiden was playing thier 2nd game this week after Mondays 41 to 15 win at Bunker Hill. They also were daunting all silver uniforms for the first time in school history at the newly named Thomas E Brown Stadium. Before the game maiden honored people who served in the local fire department police department and ems. After receiving the ball Maiden drove all the way to the Indians 11 in a 6 minute drive . Maiden was unable to score as they turned the ball over on downs. The Indians punted on thier 1st possession. Maiden was able to drive it to the 50 as the 1st quarter would end scoreless. As the 2nd quarter started QB Keygan Mayfield ran a little 40 yard qb keeper to put Maiden up 7 to 0 with 11:05 left in the 1st quarter. On the next possession maiden CB Logan Hentschel would intercept Indians qb Jusin Bullock but Maiden was unable to capitalize as they were forced to punt. The punt would not be a good one as it rolled dead at the Blue Devils 11 yd line. A few plays later Xavian King ran the ball for 11 yd TD to tie it at 7 with 8:42 left in the 2nd quarter. On maidens next possession Maiden was able to drive the field when it was finished with a Keygan Mayfield QB keeper for a 14 to 7 lead with 5:13 in the half. The Indians would put a long drive together but 2 bad snaps and a sack force them to punt to put the score at 14 to 7 Maiden at halftime. To start the 3rd quarter after a Indian punt Maiden would find the end zone as kentralll Williams would break free on a over 40 yd td to put Maiden up 21 to 7 with 9:03 in the 3rd. Later on Maiden would drive to the Indians 40 but where hurt by penalties as Maiden would turn the ball over on downs. That's where Indians QB Bullock would get his best pass of the night as the Wr caught it down to the devils 28 yd line. Unfortunately the drive would stall at the 32 as the Indians turned the ball over on downs. That would put the score at 21 to 7 Maiden at the end of 3 quarters.Later on in the 4th quarter on Maidens next possession who else but Keygan Mayfield would run for over 30 yds on another qb keeper to put the blue devils in scoring position at the Indian 10 yd line. Few plays later Maiden would fine the end zone as Chris Morgan ran in for a short TD to extend the Maiden lead to 28 to 7 with 9:48 left in the game. The rest of the game was finished with punts as Maiden takes it 28 to 7 thier 6th straight win over the Indians. Next week Maiden now (4-0) have a bye week before hosting their arch rival Bandys to open South Fork 2A play on the 22nd.
