The East Mecklenburg Eagles halted Harding's win streak, defeating the Rams 56-6, at home.
The Eagles scored early and often, thanks to their star running back Khamal Howard, who put on a show for his home crowd.
The junior back carried the ball for 206 yards and three touchdowns, making this his third 200-yard game. In just four meetings, Howard has already racked up 854 yards and nine tubbies. He is on pace to surely shatter 1,000 for the season.
Frustrations mounted up on the visiting sideline as the Rams struggled to find answers on either side of the ball.
Miscommunication and penalties plagued Harding, once again, and ultimately cost them the game.
There was a bright spot on offense when quarterback Braheam Murphy connected with Jaquan Rankins for their only points of the contest.
Hopefully, with the Rams being on a bye this week, they can reevaluate some things, clear their heads, and come back ready to take on the South Mecklenburg Sabres, Sept. 23.
The 3-1 Eagles will host the 0-3 Providence Panthers, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
