WEEK 7 PREDICTIONS FOR THE BIG SOUTH & OTHER GASTON CO. SCHOOLS
By: Anthony Perkins
BESSEMER CITY at FORESTVIEW
This looks like a repeat of last week for the 4-1 Jaguars as they line up against the 2-3 Yellow Jackets of Bessemer City. This could get ugly real fast. Forestview by 42.
EAST GASTON at LAKE NORMAN CHARTER
The Knights found out what life in the Big South Conference is all about last week after a rude awakening at the hands of Forestview. I know that LNC is a 2A team in a split conference and if they are going to beat one of the 3A teams, this week will most likely be their only opportunity this year. Their opponents, the East Gaston Warriors are still looking for their first win for the 2013 season. This could be an interesting game that could go either way. The Knights may be a little riled up after last week and I’ll give them the slight edge. LNC by 6.
NORTH GASTON at ASHBROOK
This could be the most interesting game among the Big South teams this week. The NOGA Wildcats will lay their 5-0 record on the line against the 3-2 Greenwave. The level of competition that Ashbrook has faced gives them a decided edge for this game but North Gaston has got to be riding an emotional high with their newfound success. I think the Wildcats win streak will come to a conclusion this week, however if they can pull off the upset this will be the first North Gaston team that started a season at 6-0. Ashbrook by 10.
SOUTH POINT at HUNTER HUSS
The Huskies do not have the manpower, speed or skill to match the Red Raiders this year. Red Raider fullback Tyler Bray is the new career rushing leader for South Point and he will be looking to close the distance on Princton Brooks county record. South Point by 28.
THOMAS JEFFERSON at HIGHLAND TECH
The 4-1 Gryphons will visit the 0-5 Rams this week for a Southern Piedmont 1A Conference battle. The Grypons are one of the favorites to win the conference and this top tier team shouldn’t have much trouble with one of the bottom tier teams. Thomas Jefferson by 21.
