July 31 marks the first day of official football practice in the state of North Carolina. Players can expect things to be very hot with highs across the state in the upper 90's with some areas pushing over 100. Greenville, NC could top 100 with a predicted high of 101. Charlotte, Raleigh and Fayetteville areas are expecting highs around 98. Wilmington 94, New Bern 96, Greensboro 94, Winston-Salem 93; Hickory and Marion in the foothills 96. It will be a little cooler in the mountains with temperatures in the lower 90's: Asheville 92, Brevard 91, Black Mountain 91.
Practices will be early morning and late evening to beat the heat.
