High Point Central's Jermaine Armstrong led all scorers with 24 points.

 

Central's balanced scoring attack proved to be too much for the Red Raiders of T.W. Andrews.  Senior guard Jermaine Armstrong led all scorers with 24 points on the night, and teammate Chris Applegate powered for 11 points in the paint.  Craig Brooks led the Raiders in scoring with 19 points, his teammates Tony Washington and Jordan Reid both scored 11points apiece.

The Fayetteville Observer is reporting that Haney Catchings has been named the new head coach at E.E. Smith High School in Fayetteville.  Principal Rene Corders made the announcement at a press conference in the school library.

The Davidson County Football Coaches Association will hold it's winter clinic on January 20th from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm at North Davidson High School.

Special guest speaker is Mr. Bill Urbbanik.  Newcomers to Wake Forest University may recognize himas their color commentator on the ISP radio network, but coach Urbanik offers so much more than that.  He coached at Wake Forest under John Mackovic and Al Groh before a ten year stint int he NFL.  As an NFL coach, he helped the Bengals advance to Super Bowl XXIII.  He also coached with the Oakland Raiders.  A threee year starter and an Academic All-American at Ohio State under legendary Woody Hayes, Bill will share the career opportunites football offered hm as well as insight on how to deal with success and changes in the profession.

KANNAPOLIS-  You know it's a bad sign when your opponent is pulling it's starters midway through the third period.  That was the case Friday night and Coach Shelwyn Klutz could only watch as Concord's talented team never allowed the Wonders to make a serious challenge.

Concord began the game with a 19-6 run and it only got worse as the Spiders cruised to an 84-58 win before a packed house at A.L. Brown's Bullock Gymnasium.
