Wing King

As some of you know, I like to eat Wings. We’ve had several CarolinaVarsity.com Meet and Greets at Wing place. This past summer met at Buffalo Wings and Rings, we’ve met at Wild Wing Café and DD Peckers. This past weekend we met at my current favorite location, Wing King on South Tryon Street at Carowinds Blvd in Southwest Charlotte.

I like Wing King because they cook the wings right, crispy on the outside and moist, not too dry on the inside. I also like the flavor of the Smoking Hot Sauce. It is not the hottest of hot sauces but it has a nice little kick and even better flavor. They have many options for flavors, so you should be able to find something to meet your needs.

However, about a month ago I started doing the Foursquare thing because my daughter decided to become the “mayor” of my favorite BBQ place in Monroe, NC Bib Bob Gibson’s Barbecue. So I decided to join in on the foursquare fun. Reading a tip at Wing King I saw a suggestion to try their fingers in Cajun Dry rub and use your favorite dipping sauce. Since that time I have not gone back to Wings. I get the fingers in the Cajun dry rub and dip them in the smoking hot sauce. I do not exaggerate when I say they use high quality chicken with these tenders.

If you like fried pickles Wing King gives you a HUGE order and you can choose chips or slices!

Make no mistake about the atmosphere; Wing King is a “bar”. It seems to be a very popular joint for Cornhole. So you might have to fight a crowd every once in a while. Wing King has overtaken my previous favorite in Charlotte DD Peckers for best wings in Charlotte.
