My boys played Pop Warner in Florida so, I don't know much about the Charlotte teams. My youngest played Rowan County Football League when we moved up here. The West 5th/6th grade team went undefeated the past two years and are the defending back to back bowl champions. He now plays 7th grade football for West Middle School~record 4-0 this year. Makes you wonder about Western Rowan County??

No. We checked into it before relocating to NC and was disappointed to learn the closest would have been Mecklenburg. My husband thinks there might be a pop warner team that practices at Knox Middle now. Not sure. A pop warner team here in Rowan County would be a blessing to our youth.

Is there enough population to support it is the question? You'd end up plaing games against Mecklenburg County it sounds like. I guess North Mecklenburg County wouldn't be too bad.

Dale, Mallard creek joined pop warner this year, also teams in Harrisburg and coulwood oakdale area are also part of Charlotte league. www.popwarnerlittlepanthers.org

the best programs as far as winning over the years have come from Freedom Drive-Bronocs (at Spaugh middle) consistently.
Steele Creek, Derita, Coul-Oak, Mint Hill, & Lake Norman have been in the finals most in the Last 10 yrs I have been involved. one year Steele Creek had 3 different age teams in the championships.

The Coul-Oak Steelers (Coulwood/Oakdale) are a great Popwarner program. I coached over there for 4 or 5 years while my son went through and they continue to have a great program. Patrick85 is right too, Freedom Drive Broncos are a great program who consistantly field good teams. Steele Creek, Derita, Mint Hill, & Lake Norman are good programs too, however Derita has had some issue with manipulating players ages and weight to get an edge. It happened on a couple of occasions when we played them.

The Popwarner in charlotte is far different from what you probally seen in Fla(Less competitive). Its more like a recreation league than what you would see in your normal Popwarner League. Take a trip to Gaston county and you will see the difference.
