Forum users,
I have been made aware of several images that were linked in forum posts that were not owned by the user that created the post; and further the owner of the images had not given permission for that user to link those images.
This is not and will not be allowed.
How can you know when it is safe to post a link to an image?
1. You took the picture yourself. This is the safest method.
2. The person that took the picture gave you permission to use the picture(s)
3. You have purchased the rights to use the picture.
Just because you see a picture linked in someone’s post does not mean that you have the rights to also use that picture. You always ask the creator of the image for permission.
So what if you find a picture and you do not know? If you cannot find the author and get their permission, don’t post a link to it. It is that simple.
The same is true with written material. You cannot copy an entire news article and post it. The same three rules apply. If it is not your content and you do not have permission to post it, then don’t.
If I am made aware of any possible Copyright infringements I will remove those pictures or text, no questions asked. I cannot control what you put on your own websites or what you might post on other forums. However; my advice for you is to following the same “rule” If it isn’t yours then ask for permission.
