10 Replies and 390 Views Hiring Football Coaches in North Carolina  390  10 Started by  Dale Ross Each season we talk about which positions might become or have become available. Something I’ve noticed in CMS, and I wonder if it is true outside of CMS is the number of applicants with experience applying.   From the available jobs in CMS last season, there were only a handful of applicants with Head Coach experience – many of them hired -; and very few coordinators qualified to take over as a head coach. Several programs had difficult times finding qualified coordinator...

8 Replies and 400 Views What would a true 25/25/25/25 realignment look like?  400  8 Started by  Jim West Okay, I don&39;t know but you, but right now I&39;m not a big fan of the 20/30/30/20 realignment.  In fact, it&39;s a hot mess. I was playing around with what a true 25/25/25/25 model would look like if the non-football teams were not part of the model but would be added back in after the football teams are aligned.  In my model, we would have exactly 95 teams in 1A, 95 in 2A, 95 in 3A, and 95 in 4A.  Here&39;s what it looks like based on 2016 ADM&39;s:   ...

0 Replies and 260 Views The CarolinaVarsity Report  260  0 Started by  Dale Ross Due to a situation beyond our control, we&39;ve been unable to produce the CarolinaVarsity Football Report. Hokiemtc has been the person responsible for producing the report as he wrote all the code for it. He has issues that does not allow him to produce the report, and thus we had nothing to distribute. Currently it doesn&39;t look like he will be able to continue with this project at least for the short-term and very possibly not at all. We recognize that the Report was a very good docu...

0 Replies and 86 Views Three years later the pain from the death of a high school football player lingers on  86  0 Started by  Jim West A little over three years ago, Isaiah Langston died at the young age of 17, only three days after collapsing on the football field from a stroke.  Isaiah, a Rolesville player, had allegedly suffered a head injury in practice only 5 days before his death. The News and Observer has an article about Isaiah&39;s parents settling out of court with the school.  http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/education/article180416136.html We talk about football and the threats that can h...

0 Replies and 224 Views A Shout out to Dale Ross  224  0 Started by  Jim West Dale Ross is a good man. Over the past year I&39;ve got to really know Dale, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, Dale Ross loves North Carolina high school football.  He doesn&39;t care what jersey you wear, what team you pull for, or whether you are from North Carolina or from outside the state, he treats us all the same. As potential students of the game. Dale also has an eye for talent, both on the gridiron and off the gridiron.  We could all learn something from D...

(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
We are seeing more Charter Schools pop up, and I&39;m expecting more. Since we&39;re about athletics here, we&39;re interes, ted in the impact on Athletics. However, any thoughts on Charter schools are welcome. One comment made in conversation is that they are their own LEA. However, many "pubic" schools are their own LEA... One School county, control. One school in a county with other schools but wanting their own control.

23 Replies and 506 Views Are we the way too critical society?  506  23 Started by  Jim West I am a human.  I will make mistakes.  I&39;ve made most of the people in my life who I love mad at me at some time or another. I am also "not a coach".  I would be a lousy coach because I simply do not always listen to others.  I&39;m bull-headed.  I&39;m also arrogant and probably condescending.   However, I rarely, if ever, criticize a coach.  Do you know why  I&39;ve yet to meet a coach who is less qualified than me to run a program...
